Low Caffeine // High Intention
Why I chose hojicha - and how this coconut cold foam latte supports skin, nervous system, and ritual.
There are drinks I order for energy.
And then there are drinks I choose for how I want to feel.
This one falls firmly into the second category.
I recently collaborated with The Coffee Shop Clearwater to create something quiet, grounding, and intentionally understated:
The Cold Foam Coconut Hojicha Tea Latte.
I’ve loved hojicha for a long time. It’s a roasted Japanese green tea with a warm, nutty depth that feels comforting without being heavy. Unlike matcha or coffee, hojicha is naturally low in caffeine, but it still contains L-theanine - the amino acid responsible for that calm, steady focus green tea is known for. No jitters. No spike and crash. Just balance.
As an esthetician, that distinction matters to me, especially when we talk about skin!
Stress shows up on the face faster than anywhere else. Inflammation, sensitivity, dullness, premature aging—these are nervous-system issues as much as they are topical ones. Hojicha supports the opposite state. It helps regulate cortisol, supports digestion, and delivers antioxidants without overstimulation. Think glow, not flush.
From a skin perspective, it’s quietly powerful. Hojicha is rich in antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress, one of the primary drivers of skin aging. It’s naturally anti-inflammatory and gentle on the gut—something I care deeply about, because skin and digestion are always in conversation with each other. When the body feels calm and supported, the skin follows.
We finished the drink with a cloud of coconut cold foam—house-made, organic, and lightly creamy. Every element of this latte was created with intention. Ingredients are locally sourced where possible, organic, and prepared in-house. No artificial syrups. No unnecessary additives. Just clean components that work together beautifully.
The result is modern and restrained. Cozy, but clean. Indulgent without being loud.
This collaboration wasn’t about creating a trendy drink. It was about creating a ritual—something you reach for when you want to slow down, support your skin from the inside out, and romanticize your afternoon just enough. A small luxury that fits into real life.
If you’re local, you can find the Coconut Cold Foam Hojicha Tea Latte now at The Coffee Shop Clearwater. I hope you order it slowly. I hope you drink it deliberately.
Because real luxury isn’t excess—it’s intention 🤍
